RAF English Electric Lightning Fuselage Hatch

A small access panel from an English Electric Lightning.

This one has the original silver paint on the outside and original yellow paint on the inside.

The panel is said to have been removed from XN 769 which was first flown in 1962 and served throughout her career with 92 squadron before serving time as gate guardian at RAF Leconfield and the Air Traffic Control Centre and RAF West Drayton.

She was scrapped in the mid 90s and the nose survived and in in Malta.

The panel was removed from teh aircraft when she was scrapped.

The rear of the panel has the etched part number and EEP - English Electric Preston.

It measures 9 inches x 6.5 inches reducing to 5.75 inches.

We have painted it with the 92 squadron emblem of the snake and Z the squadron code she used.
